A Tournerbury woods Wedding picture Story

Tournerbury Woods is a very enchanting place for a reception. Through the trees you eventually arrive where cars are parked at an exquisite, mostly hidden marquee. And to my surprise, the short walk through the woods for portraits took us to the water of the Solent. What a spot! I had some brief moments with Rachel getting ready before heading a little way up the coast to Warblington church to await the wedding parties. Rachel & Dave had cleverly chosen to marry in one of the oldest, smallest and most atmospheric of chapels, but also one of the darkest places I’ve ever been challenged to make wedding pictures. Lucky I like a challenge!

It was a lovely sunny afternoon as the kids all larked mischievously around in the graveyard before being corralled in for the service. When Rachel arrived veiled at the west doors there was a moment when she was marvellously silhouetted in the ancient doorway before eyes adjusted and the smiles of friends and family accompanied her down the aisle to join Dave. Lovely moments. After fairly enthusiastic singing, genuine solemnity, touching vows and amazingly behaved children (it was a proper service in length..) we all emerged back into the sunshine for a confetti throw, a handful of group pictures, and many hugs, before the wedding party headed along the coast and into the woods. Rachel & Dave had the weather on their side all afternoon, right through outdoor drinks, food, pictures galore, speeches, even more food, and into the evening party where many more friends arrived to chat and laugh around log fires well into the night. Some of my favourite images are below.
